So Much To Say

These past 2 days {Wednesday & Thursday} have been so busy, so fun and so full of exciting news!

Thanks to budget cuts, I have had this whole week off of work due to furlough days.  Mostly I've been sleeping in {when I can even get to sleep}, catching up on Hulu shows and reading from my stack of magazines I have laying around.

Wednesday I had plans to drive down to the Bay Area to get together with a longtime friend who I have not seen in about 4 years {pretty sad since we live only 2 hours away}.  We got together and had a BLAST!  I love that with true friends you can go for.ev.er without seeing them, and the minute you're back together it's like no time has passed at all.  I had so much fun that I stayed much later than planned and didn't get home until after 8pm, giving me just enough time to watch Glee and get to bed {driving long distances really wears me out}!

Bay Area Bound!

Thursday, I did my grocery shopping for the next few days, stopped by Sbux for a treat and spent close to 2 hours at Michael's.  I can be pretty crafty when I want to be, so I found some supplies for a Pinterest project I will be working on and posting about in a few days.

I have spent a lot of time this week creating some new recipes and tweaking old ones.  I will be posting all about them soon.

The MOST exciting thing I did this week was.....SIGN UP FOR A 5K!!!!!!!!  Best part?  My BFF is doing it with me!!  We live about an hour and a half away, so most training will have to be on our own, but we did talk briefly about meeting midway and training together a few times.  I cannot tell you how proud I am of the both of us.  We have a long way to go before the 5k is here {June 3rd} so I know we will be kill it!

Here is the 5k we signed up for:

Wish me luck as I start my training!

One thing I am LOVING right now is the weather {high 60's, low 70's all week long}.  Warm weather:

~Makes my hydrangeas grow
Hello, Beautiful, I have missed you!

~Gives me a chance to wear flip flops ALL DAY!
Ignore my need for a pedicure!

Sasha, however, says that sunny {and cold} weather makes her want to cuddle in her bed.

Happy Friday!

**Any big plans this weekend?**

**Any runners who can give me advice on my 1st 5k?**

  2. Oh!! What an awesome couple of days! I just did my first marathon last fall and literally 6 years ago could barely run a mile! First and foremost have fun running. It will make you run more. Second, run a lot. Not necessarily a long distance, but more frequently throughout the week. GOOD LUCK!! I cannot wait to hear about your training journey!

  3. Good luck with the 5K! I read an article once (I think from Shape.com?) on the Couch to 5K training plan and it seemed really simple! I actually have never run a 5K either and I really want to do the Humane Society one this year. Hopefully I will get over my race fears as the last one I ran was a mile and I thought I was going to die after the first 20 seconds. It was on like the hottest day of the year though and I was super anxious.

  4. I can attest to the simplicity of the Ease into 5K (formerly known as Couch to 5K) running app for iPhone! In only 8 weeks, you'll be able to run a 5k! I started in early January and am halfway through Week 7. The program pushes you to run a little bit further each week so that you're not sore for the next 10 days and can't run again. Completing each run motivates you keep running. I was not a runner before this and now I seriously love it!

  7. congrats girl!! my advice is to stick with it, have fun, and don't worry about your time! get one 5k under your belt before you even consider thinking about time. when you're done, you'll be able to say, "yeah, i've run a 5k!" and no one will even ask about our time. so have fun, do your best, and kill it! (and let us all know how it went! hehe)

  8. Yay! I've always wanted to try running a 5k, but my back just doesn't like running. Good for you, though!

  9. You asked of weekend plans... I hope to stay inside out of the snow and wind, unless we start having too many baby calves on the ground. Seems like we're a world away from each other! Best of luck on running your 5k!

  10. Thanks for stopping by my blog again :) And so glad you are doing a 5K... though I am doing the running plan I have not signed up for a 5K... however I want to do one. You will have to tell me what you are doing for training and how it works :)
As far as what I did this weekend... hmmm homework today and yesterday my hubs and I spent the day with our Little (volunteer for BBBS). That is usually how our weekends go though... I know not super exciting, but as long as I am with the hubs I am good :)

  11. So excited to follow your training. My younger sister (she is 47 this year) has signed up for her first 5k and I look forward to running it with her in October. I am training for a local 10 miler and am so glad the weather has allowed some nice days out there. Enjoy the training!
